Short Description
As a Senior Project Manager within AO Education Institute, you will play a critical role in driving the successful implementation of global curriculum initiatives aligned with the AO's strategic education goals. This position demands both strong execution skills and the ability to engage diplomatically with diverse stakeholders—including volunteer surgical faculty, medical education professionals, and cross-functional teams—ensuring that high-quality educational offerings are delivered on time, on budget, and with measurable impact.
Main Responsibilities
Assessment Design:
- Define assessment type and select assessment tool
- Develop and validate assessment methodology
- Collaborate with Program/Product Owner (to review assessment outcomes)
Project Management:
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of global, competency-based curricula in trauma, recon, spine, CMF, VET or sports medicine, and related fields
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams and external faculty to facilitate content development, resource coordination, and alignment with AO’s strategic priorities
- Manage complex timelines, budgets, and deliverables with a structured, outcome-driven approach
- Proactively address and mediate challenging stakeholder conversations, including with international leaders
- Apply project management best practices in a matrixed environment, adapting to evolving organizational needs
Expanded Focus Areas:
Digital Transformation Support:
- Integrate educational technologies, such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), simulations, and other EdTech tools to enhance digital learning delivery
- Collaborate with instructional designers and media teams to innovate educational experiences (digitally and virtually)
Data-Informed Decision Making:
- Leverage data analytics to support curriculum evaluation, continuous improvement cycles, and the measurement of educational outcomes
- Support the use of feedback mechanisms and performance dashboards to assess learner engagement and program effectiveness
Evidence-Based Education Support:
- Demonstrate a working understanding of educational research principles and methodologies to support the translation of evidence into practice
- Contribute to curriculum updates and proposals that are grounded in best practices and emerging trends in health professions education
Main Requirements
- University degree in medical education, instructional design, health sciences, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in medical education, program/curriculum development, or healthcare learning environments
- Proven project or portfolio management expertise with a track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Experience working with a global volunteer network of healthcare professionals, preferably in an academic or not-for-profit context
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms (e.g., Learning Management System), educational technology tools, and data-informed curriculum evaluation
- Demonstrates a keen interest and growing engagement in medical education literature and evidence-based teaching practices, with interest in contributing to or supporting publications, abstracts, or conference presentations
- Strong English fluency (written and spoken)
